"Gran" was the affectionate nickname given by Dave Lister to the woman who raised him as her grandson after he his adoptive parents died. She was morbidly obese and fed Lister so much he was starting to get morbidly obese too. She was killed when a truck struck her. Lister had fond memories of his grandmother. ("Beyond a Joke") She was also quite aggressive, and once head-butted Lister's teacher when he marked him low in French class.
