Commander Randy Navarro was an officer aboard the Holoship Enlightenment, a crew of high-intelligence, notoriously arrogant holograms.
As "number two" of the Holoship, Navarro was third in command after captain Hercule Platini and his "number one" Natalina Pushkin.
History[]
Although it was Nirvanah Crane who first met and welcomed Arnold Rimmer aboard the Enlightenment, it was Commanders Navarro and Pushkin who welcomed Rimmer to the bridge of the ship. Like the rest of the bridge crew, Navarro stated his name, position and IQ.
After Rimmer and Crane had sex, it was Navarro who initiated a video message to Crane's quarters. Navarro informed Crane of the "amusing news" that the ship computer, Stocky, had matched her up to Rimmer in his challenge.
When Rimmer won the challenge by default as Crane stood down from the challenge, Navarro showed Rimmer to his new quarters - which happened to be Crane's. Rimmer then realised what had happened, and Navarro confirmed that Rimmer had replaced Crane.
Rimmer then decided to resign and return to Red Dwarf so that Crane could exist again aboard Enlightenment. ("Holoship", Series V)
Trivia[]
- The crew of Enlightenment were apparently structured according to their IQ. With an IQ or 194, Navarro had the third highest IQ (the captain's was 212).
